Dream Defenders, an activist organization that opposes “Stand Your Ground” laws and police brutality, has rolled out satirical billboards in Tallahassee advertising bulletproof vests for young boys.
The “vote or vest” initiative aims to encourage minorities to vote in the midterm elections to end police brutality and “Stand Your Ground” laws as part of a coordinated response to recent high-profile killings of African-American teenagers nationwide.
The group, while not promoting a specific measure or solution, argues that the current laws “create fear and insecurity” and that a democratic response is the best option.
