Flashback: The Time Donald Trump Got Pranked Into Cashing a 13-Cent Check

screen-shot-2016-09-27-at-11-55-18-amSome pranks are good. Some pranks are bad. Some pranks are insensitive. With all of that in mind, here’s an old prank that is very subjective.

Spy Magazine taunted Donald Trump in the 1980s and 1990s. We’ve covered that before. Beyond making fun of his tiny hands in print, though, they also pranked the mogul in real life. In 1990, they sent checks for $1.11 to 58 celebrities using an organization they made up, the National Refund Clearinghouse. 26 celebs cashed those checks, so those same 26 got new checks for $0.64. Of those 26, 13 cashed the check. Next, the 13 were given checks for $0.13.

Two cashed that check.

One of the two was Trump.
