When he’s not drumming up support for Donald Trump, David Duke is campaigning in the Louisiana Senate race. According to polls picked up by Politico, the former KKK imperial wizard has enough votes to qualify for the state’s first televised debate for the position.
The debate threshold was determined at 5%, and Duke barely made it in with approximately 5.1%. What makes the news particularly interesting is that Duke will face his opponents at Dillard University, a historically black school.
Even though the GOP and Trump campaign higher-ups have renounced him, Duke still advocates regularly on the mogul’s behalf. Trump once hesitated to condemn Duke himself in the past, whereas Duke has celebrated Trump’s rise as proof that the alt-right has hijacked the Republican Party.
This could make for some very interesting television down the line.
