Fox’s Napolitano Hits Pelosi For Nixing Trump’s State of the Union: ‘I Wish She Would Respect the Office’

Fox News analyst Andrew Napolitano was unequivocal. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has the right to cancel President Donald Trump‘s State of the Union address on the House floor — as she did on Wednesday.

But that doesn’t mean, in his opinion, that she should.

Appearing on Your World with Neil Cavuto, Napolitano hit Pelosi for canceling the address — writing it off as a political ploy.

“I wish she wouldn’t [cancel],” Napolitano said. “I wish she would respect the office, whether she disagrees with the tactics employed by the current occupant.”

Napolitano also took a shot at Trump for a lack of decorum. Ultimately, he concluded that — with the government shutdown on Day 33 — these tactics will only result in a prolonged dispute.

“I understand her argument. I understand what [Trump is] doing. He likes to play hardball negotiations. She likes to play hardball negotiations. I don’t think this moves the ball forward. I don’t think it shows adequate respect by him for the House of Representatives, by her for the presidency.”
