Funny or Die Sets Up a News Site for Current Events Coverage

Comedy website Funny or Die is getting into the news business (sort of) with FOD News. And the content ranges for straight-ish news stories to explainers to what’s happening in late night.

For example, one of FOD News’ stories today was about Daily Show correspondent Jason Jones taking over The Daily Show last night. It’s mainly just a write-up of what happened with some quips and a sarcastic boast they’ve scored this as an exclusive video.

But then they also have just 100 percent pure comedy posts, like an interactive map showing off all the ballot initiatives that voters most certainly won’t be voting on next month.

But while they do have purely silly posts, there are an interesting number of posts just giving a twist on actual news. And that’s their intention, actually, as editor-in-chief Dan Abramson explains, “We’ll be covering everything, meaning that you could actually come to Funny Or Die News to stay fully informed and get a ton of laughs. So check back throughout the day, as we’ll be creating regular content that falls in line with the daily news cycle.”

Which is why FOD News actually has a post up on Thomas Duncan, the man with Ebola, dying in the Dallas hospital. No, seriously, Funny or DIe actually has a post on that:

(Taking Funny or Die a bit too literally, maybe?)
