This might be the best ice bucket challenge issued since the charity gimmick went viral.
In a YouTube video uploaded Thursday, former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords along with her husband Mark Kelly nominated National Rife Association Executive Vice President Wayne LaPIerre to be the next person to dump ice water on his head.
After ticking off two other nominees, Kelly says, “And finally Wayne LaPierre, the head of the National Rifle Association, who we do hope one day we can agree upon more than just supporting … Lou Gehrig’s disease research.”
With Giffords laughing on the side, a bucket of ice water is then dumped on Kelly’s head.
The way the challenge works: If the person “challenged” agrees to have a bucket of iced water poured on his or her head, the challenger then has to pay money to a charity supporing Lou Gehrig’s disease. If the challenged person doesn’t agree, he or she then has to pay. And on and on it goes.
In 2011, Giffords was shot in the head by a gunman while hosting a public event in Arizona. Along with her husband, she has since become a staunch advocate for stricter gun control laws.
