George Will: Lacking Washington Experience Is A Considerable Plus These Days

Yesterday on This Week Christiane Amanpour asked George Will to explain how come Christine O’Donnell won on Tuesday and whether or not we should actually be surprised. Answer: No. (As in, fool me twice shame on you.) Says Will:

It’s a surprise in a year full of surprises, so we shouldn’t be quite so surprised. The message was, turn them out. It was stir it up. It is the fact that you lack Washington experience is a considerable plus these days.

The question remains whether this is a small sect of voters pushing back (primary votes mostly represent a small but determined slice) or whether this is just the sign of things to come and the country at large is willing to actually put in office people lacking in Washington experience (or any experience it would seem). Peter Beinart, meanwhile, thinks the Tea Party is the GOP now and what has happened this year is similar to the effect George McGovern had on the Dems between 1968-72. Watch the segment below.
