Speaking with George Stephanopoulos on This Week, Giuliani lauded Trump’s actions as “a perfectly legal application of the tax code” which the mogul “would’ve been a fool not to take advantage of.”
Giuliani: “He’s a genius.”
Stephanopoulos: “A genius?”
Giuliani: “The reality is…absolutely genius.”
Giuliani made a nearly identical assertion to CNN’s Jake Tapper earlier Sunday, an indication that the “genius” line is a strategic talking point, and not just a one-off observation.
Giuliani went on to plug Trump’s The Art of the Deal by arguing that “every great man has had failures” yet Trump proved he could recover from a loss of $916 million.

“This a genius at how to take advantage of legal remedies that can help your company survive and grow,” Giuliani said. “Don’t you think a man who has this kind of economic genius is a lot better for the United States than a woman [who] the only thing she has produced, a lot of work for the FBI checking out her e-mails?”
