Rudy Giuliani really likes the idea of electronically tagging people on the terror watch list.
Remember how Republicans were saying a while ago, during the gun control debate, that Americans’ rights should not be stripped because the government puts them on a list. Giuliani appears to hold a different view on the matter.
According to NJ.com, Giuliani said it would be an “excellent idea” to tag people on the terror watch list, and the report suggests that he was specifically talking about Muslims (though there’s no direct quote from Giuliani indicating such).
“If you’re on the terror watch list,” Giuliani said, “I should you know you’re on the terror watch list. You’re on there for a reason.”
He’s apparently advising Trump on these issues and said he would recommend The Donald adopt this measure if he’s president.
Giuliani touted his own record on the issue:
“I put undercover agents in mosques for the first time in January 1994,” said Giuliani, in the wake of the February 1993 truck bombing of the World Trade Center that killed six and injured hundreds.
“I did it because the 1993 bombing was planned in a mosque in Union City, New Jersey, and a second plan was uncovered to bomb our subways, which was foiled,” said Giuliani. “And I kept those police officers in those mosques until I left as mayor.”
