Golfer Bubba Watson Will Paint over Confederate Flag on His Dukes of Hazzard Car
Back in 2012, golfer Bubba Watson won the General Lee––the famous Dukes of Hazzard car––at an auction for $110,000.
Both the car and the show are back in the national spotlight in the ongoing fervor over the Confederate flag. Because of its use by the Charleston church shooter, people all over the country have called for Confederate flags (along with memorials and statutes to Confederate leaders) to be taken down from government property.
And the good ol’ Duke boys ended up in the middle of this mess too. First, Warner Bros stopped licensing General Lee merchandise due to the flag, and this week TV Land pulled reruns of The Dukes of Hazzard.
Which brings us right back to Watson. Being in possession of that very car, he tweeted out this message last night:
All men ARE created equal, I believe that so I will be painting the American flag over the roof of the General Lee #USA
