A Republican senator coming out against one of President Trump‘s Cabinet picks isn’t too worried about Twitter reprisals.
Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski came out in opposition to Betsy DeVos for Education Secretary this week, explaining that she has “serious concerns about a nominee to be Secretary of Education who has been so involved on one side of the equation, so immersed in the push for vouchers that she may be unaware of what actually is successful within the public schools and what is broken and how to fix them.”
Murkowski explained her decision today to Yahoo News’ Katie Couric, affirming that DeVos “does not have my support.”
Couric asked, “Are you bracing yourself for a critical tweet by Donald Trump?”
Murkowski actually responded, “You know, I cannot live in fear of a tweet.”
