GOP Spokesman on Carney: When Press Corps ‘Mocks’ You, It’s Time to Go

Sean Spicer, the communications director for the Republican National Committee was speaking to Newsmax’s Steve Malzberg live Friday when he found out that White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was stepping down. Spicer shared his initial thoughts on the move, calling it “inevitable” given Carney’s increasingly contentious relationship with the White House press corps.

Spicer said he think Carney has had a “very tough job” over the last three years, “spinning that Obamacare is working” and “spinning that there isn’t a problem at the VA.”

“It’s just become more and more difficult to watch him stand up there and go through with this,” Spicer continued. “He doesn’t seem to have the confidence, the press corps mocks him, he gets into a daily battle with them. I think at some point it was inevitable.”
