Greg Gutfeld Defends Trump’s Ribbon-Cutting: It’s ‘Refreshing’ Because Politicians Used to Have Jobs

On today’s episode of Fox news Channel’s The Five, the panel reviewed criticism Donald Trump faced for taking time off of campaigning to cut the ribbon on a new hotel of his in Washington, D.C. The question of whether or not he should have has been a hot topic all day.

Greg Gutfeld was annoyed by the criticism. In fact, he said that Trump putting the brakes on campaigning for an hour was “refreshing.”

Back in the old days, he explained, politicians had real jobs outside of being politicians. By cutting the ribbon, Trump reminded people that he was a businessman and real estate mogul before he was a candidate.

“All of our founding fathers had jobs, or so I’m making up because I really don’t know,” he said. He went on to explain that anyway, now, politicians are only lawyers and they go into that profession so they can be politicians.
