Hannity: Colbert Needs to ‘Get a Dose of Reality’
Sean Hannity took his show to Israel this week, and talked about the experience in an interview with TVNewser. But in the interview, Hannity got in a few barbs at Stephen Colbert over a bit he did last night poking fun at one aspect of the coverage.
In truth, Hannity wasn’t even the focus of the Colbert segment in question. Colbert was reacting to that viral video of the small child “apparently” with a bit of a verbal tic. Colbert highlighted what he thought was an amusing verbal tic on Hannity’s part: his repeated use of the word “literally.” And Colbert joked that the adorable child could replace Hannity with his own “mindless repetition.”
But Hannity, who admitted he hadn’t seen the segment in question, took some offense at Colbert making jokes, he believed, about the situation in Israel.
Maybe Stephen Colbert needs to come over here and get a dose of reality. He sits in the comfort of his studio, reading jokes written for him by 30 writers. So, I have a challenge for Stephen Colbert: I’ll pay for your flight. I’ll pay for your hotel, your meals. Then you sit on the border. You talk to the people. You sit across from the mother of an Israeli solider who was killed, and then make a joke about it.
