The ATLAH Worldwide Missionary Church in Harlem recently put up a sign reading “Jesus would stone homos,” and it’s been met with both scorn and derision, the latter from one gay woman who approached the church to see if anyone was willing to stone her.
This is the sign in question:
ATLAH pastor James David Manning explains in the following video why he believes Jesus would stone gay people:
Jennifer Louise Lopez saw the sign, and so she decided to go to the church and ask someone there who she could get her stoning from, to put their money where their mouth is.
But there were people who saw the sign and didn’t have similar tongue-in-cheek reactions. The sign was vandalized over the weekend, and Manning reacted by calling gay people “outright bullies” who he “expected… to act in a very violent way.”
The ATLAH church has a history of setting up provocative signs, including a message last month reading “Obama has released the homo demons on the black man. Look out black woman. A white homo may take your man.”
