‘Hear Me Out’: Dylan Ratigan Compares Trump to Ben Affleck’s Character in Good Will Hunting
During a CNN discussion surrounding the 20% Mexican tariff that has been floated by the Trump Administration, former MSNBC host Dylan Ratigan brought up a movie character from the ’90s to make a point.
Following CNN analyst Richard Quest going into minute details about taxes and and how this might filter to the consumer, Ratigan jumped in to try to explain what President Donald Trump is doing right now in comparison to one of his biggest campaign promises. That is, he will build a wall and Mexico will pay for it.
Stating that this promise needs to be seen in the context of everything that has happened the last week-plus, Ratigan referenced the Oscar-winning film Good Will Hunting.
“If you have seen the movie Good Will Hunting,” he declared. “You have seen Ben Affleck be sent by Matt Damon to the government office to basically behave nonsensically in the government office in the hopes of getting a rise out of the government panel.”
Perhaps sensing Quest wasn’t taking him seriously, Ratigan turned to him and said, “Hear me out.” The current business analyst went on to describe his belief that Trump has been sent in like Affleck to perpetually contradict himself and how that is a positive outcome for him.
Ratigan further added that Trump is the “tire iron in the bicycle wheel of American government.”
