It’s fight night in Las Vegas. Floyd Mayweather — at 49-0 the greatest boxer of his generation — takes on Conor McGregor in the UFC star’s first ever boxing match.
A massive crowd packed the T-Mobile Arena on the strip Friday for the weigh-in — where the two combatants participated in a heated stare down. Both fighters made weight with relative ease. McGregor came in at 153 lbs., while Mayweather was at 149 lbs. — a full five lbs. under the 154 lb. limit.
Mayweather is putting his 49-0 record on the line Saturday night, as he looks to surpass Rocky Marciano and improve to 50 wins without a blemish. He has faced criticism from some in the boxing world for taking a fight against a man making his pro debut in order to reach the vaunted 50-0 milestone.
McGregor, meanwhile, is looking to pull off one of the biggest upsets in sports history. The UFC star has not lacked for confidence throughout the promotion. He appears to truly believe that he will be the one to defeat boxing’s longtime pound-for-pound king.
Coverage of the fight begins at 9:00 p.m. ET on Showtime pay-per-view. Mauro Ranallo, Al Bernstein, and Paulie Malignaggi will call the action. There are two major options for streaming the bout. Showtime pay-per-view is offering a stream on their website. The UFC is likewise offering a stream on their website. Both streams cost $99.95.
