Here it is: the Sweet 16 showdown that basketball fans have been looking forward to since the brackets came out on March 12. It’s Kentucky vs. UCLA, two of college basketball’s most storied programs, squaring off for a trip to the Elite Eight.
Kentucky had to overcome a stiff challenge from Wichita State in the Second Round. But they squeaked out a narrow victory. And now, coach John Calipari‘s squad will have to raise their game if they are to defeat the outstanding Bruins.
UCLA, led by star freshman Lonzo Ball, had a relatively easy first weekend. They took out Kent State in the first round, and followed that up with a double-digit victory over Cincinnati. But the Wildcats, of course, are a whole different level of opponent.
The teams have already met this season, with UCLA pulling off the road win at Rupp Arena 97-92 back in December. With the game taking place in Tennessee, which shares a border with Kentucky, the Bruins can again expect a hostile environment of Friday night.
Tip-off is scheduled for approximately 9:39 p.m ET on CBS. The game can be streamed online free with a cable subscription via NCAA March Madness Live. It can also be streamed via the March Madness Live app, which can be downloaded from Apple’s App store or the Google Play store.
