The college bowl season starts to kick into high gear Wednesday with an intriguing matchup between two former Big East conference mates who have both found new homes — No. 14 West Virginia and unranked Miami.
The Mountaineers put together an impressive 10-win season under head coach Dana Holgorsen. But blowout losses to the two Big 12 teams from Oklahoma, OU and Oklahoma State, kept the Mountaineers from the New Year’s Six and maybe even the College Football Playoff.
Instead, they get a matchup with an intriguing Miami squad, which started off with a four-game winning, had a four-game losing streak in the middle of the season, then recovered to win their last four. The early wins came against weaker competition. The late wins came against conference foes. This team appears to be playing its best football right now.
Kickoff for the game is 5:30 p.m. ET. Dave Pasch and Greg McElroy will call the action live on ESPN. The game will also be streamed online free with a cable subscription via WatchESPN. The Watch ESPN app can be downloaded from the iTunes, the Google Play store, and the Windows store.
