‘I Don’t Wanna Be Jeff Lord Redux’: Trump Surrogate Has Moment Of Self-Awareness on CNN

On Tuesday, our managing editor Colby Hall published a column in which he asserted that it’s no longer fun to watch President Donald Trump-apologist Jeffrey Lord getting his lunch eaten on CNN panels.

It seems other Trump surrogates on CNN want to avoid a similar fate.

During a heated exchange with, among others, Anderson Cooper and Jeffrey Toobin, Trump-backer David Urban sensed that the momentum was going against him after he called former FBI Director James Comey “a puppet master.”

And as many of the other panelists promptly fired back, Urban tried to ward them off with what was a remarkable moment of self-awareness.

“I don’t wanna be Jeff Lord redux,” Urban said.

Several of the panelists laughed at the notion. Cooper said, “you’re good.”

“You’ll never be Jeff Lord,” added David Axelrod.

Without a doubt, there is only one Jeff Lord.
