From Romney to Kanye, Trump Tower has played host to a wide variety of guests over the past seven weeks. On Dec. 7, former Dallas Cowboys and Oklahoma Sooners coach spoke to the assembled press before the gold bank of elevators at the base of the tower and claimed to be among those to have been granted an audience with President-elect Donald Trump.
“Donald plans to run with the ball. And I know a lot about rushing the football. So that’s why I’m here,” Switzer said, according to the AP.
Switzer even Tweeted out a photo for good measure.

But as it turned out, the Super Bowl-winning coach ran a fake.
Politico reports that Switzer never actually met with the President-elect while he was at the tower, that he simply conjured up the meeting in order to mess around with the media.
“I went back to my hotel and laughed my ass off,” Switzer told Politico. “It went everywhere.”
Apparently, all Switzer did was go upstairs, have a coffee at a Starbucks located inside the tower, and come back down.
“Everyone believed it,” Switzer said. “I had all these calls, but I was just jerking people around.”
