Spurning White House tradition, President Donald Trump declined an invitation to throw out the first pitch at the Washington Nationals’ opening day game on Monday. Had he gone, he would’ve been greeted by a very unfriendly banner in the stands.
As you can see in the Twitter photo above, a banner reading “Impeach Trump #Resist” was hung in the stands.
NBC military analyst Kevin Baron reports that multiple protestors revealed the banner at the conclusion of the game.

With the exception of Jimmy Carter, every president going back to William Howard Taft has thrown out at least one opening day first pitch during their administration. (Carter did throw out a first pitch prior to Game 7 of the World Series in 1979.)
