‘It’s a Big, Fat, Beautiful Negotiation’: Trump Comments on the GOP’s Obamacare Replacement Plan
At the beginning of his administration’s first Cabinet meeting today, President Donald Trump delivered some prepared remarks for the press — but refused to take any questions — in which he touched on a number of subjects and promises.
Along the way, Trump brought up healthcare and the GOP’s Obamacare replacement bill. As he did earlier today at a healthcare listening session with concerned citizens, Trump pointed out that Obamacare was “imploding” and how the Affordable Care Act is now popular with the American public.
“Obamacare all of a sudden, the last couple of weeks, it’s getting a false rep, that maybe it’s okay,” he stated. “It’s not okay, it’s a disaster, and people understand that. It’s failed. And it’s imploding.”
After highlighting that he’s told Republicans they can just let it fail and everyone will understand how bad the current law is, he then noted how good the new proposal will be after negotiations.
“The House plan will expand choice, lower costs, and insure health care access for all when negotiating with everybody,” the president said. “It’s a big, fat, beautiful negotiation. Hopefully we’ll come up with something that’s going to be really terrific.”
