I am a sucker for long shots in movies. There’s nothing I enjoy more than an unending take in an Alfonso Cuarón or Brian De Palma movie. I’m also a sucker for Congressional candidates who claim riding ostriches as one of their credentials. That’s why I am officially in the bag for South Dekota’s Jeff Barth who’s new campaign ad has the best combination of bizarre and awesome and more bizarre we’ve seen since the days of Herman Cain.
The ad features Barth talking to the camera as he walks down a long path. The first thing you’ll notice is that the way the camera backs away from him makes the whole thing seem like the viewer is desperately trying to get out of a conversation with a crazy person. The second thing you’ll notice is that Barth has done a lot of weird stuff in his life. As he walks, he lists such accomplishments as having “learned chess in Iceland,” being in Germany to watch the Berlin Wall get built, and having daughters with “straight teeth and husbands.”
Yeah, it’s about time we get those crooked teeth, single ladies out of Washington!
Barth is running in a primary against sitting Rep. Kristi Noem. It is not yet known where Noem was when she learned chess.
