Jay Carney to Leave CNN for Amazon Corporate Gig

Jay Carney has hitched himself to the Amazon drone.

Politico reports that Carney, the White House press secretary who stepped down last year, will leave his current gig as a CNN political analyst to work at Amazon full-time as its new senior vice president for worldwide corporate affairs.

According to reports, Carney will oversee the combination of the company’s public policy team (a.k.a its lobbying arm) and its public relations, commuting back and forth between the company’s headquarters in Seattle and its DC base. His job begins Monday, and he’ll be reporting directly to Jeff Bezos.

Carney isn’t the only former Obama official to take a job in Silicon Valley: David Plouffe, a campaign manager in 2008 and 2012, recently took a job at Uber as their “campaign manager.” Sadly, Barack Obama himself is having trouble reaching out to the tech community, because of that mass surveillance thing.
