Jay-Z Will Reportedly be Producing Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In The Heights Movie
Lin-Manuel Miranda is known for a little musical you may have heard of called Hamilton, but a few years back, he made another musical called In The Heights. While it didn’t cause quite the stir the musical about our founding fathers did, it was nominated for twelve Tony Awards and won four of them including the coveted Best Musical award and snagged a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album. Now it’s being made into a movie.
At Harvey Weinstein‘s pre-Oscars party on Saturday night, Cynthia Errivo, Chris Jackson and Corbin Bleu were performing songs from In The Heights when Jay-Z arrived to the party with Beyoncé, according to a report from Page Six. Weinstein had them onstage to perform longer than they were expected to for them, and then Weinstein reportedly announced that Jay-Z will be a co-producer on the upcoming movie.
This isn’t Jay-Z’s first rodeo. Back in 2013, he was an executive producer on The Great Gatsby. The Weinstein Company will also be producing the movie, along with theater producer Scott Sanders.
