John Conyers Announces Retirement from Congress Amid Sexual Harassment Accusations

Representative John Conyers announced that he will retire from politics today, even as he faces numerous questions about his alleged sexual harassment.

Conyers gave a radio to Mildred Gaddis today, where he denied any wrongdoing while also skirting around her questions about the sexual misconduct allegations against him. Instead, Conyers defended his political legacy while announcing his immediate departure from the legislature.

“I want everyone to know how much I appreciate the incredible, undiminished support I’ve received across the years.”

Coneys said he would endorse his son, John Conyers III, to run to replace him for his seat. When he finally addressed the allegations against himself, Conyers refuted the notion of improper conduct on his part.

“Whatever they are, they are not accurate,” Conyers said. “They are something that I can’t explain where they came from.”
