John Sununu Ends Fox News Appearance By Raging Against CNN: That ‘Garbage’ is Shown at ‘Most Airports’
Those days appear to be over.
Monday on America’s Newsroom, Sununu concluded his appearance on the Fox News daytime show by raging against CNN. According to the ex-New Hampshire governor, CNN is somewhat to blame for President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un leaving last week’s summit in Vietnam without a signed agreement. In Sununu’s opinion, CNN’s coverage of the Michael Cohen testimony last Wednesday influenced the summit because of the network’s international reach.
“This may not be the right network to talk about it on,” Sununu said. “But the biggest window to the U.S. from overseas is CNN. In fact, it is the only window in most airports, hotels, and most cable and satellite systems overseas. And when those folks see the garbage that’s on CNN, they sense that the president was going to North Korea in a very vulnerable position. And I think they tried to take advantage of it, and I think it screwed the whole thing up.”
America’s Newsroom’s Bill Hemmer, who was in Vietnam for the summit last week, offered his take on the volume of CNN’s Cohen coverage.
“I was watching some CNN at the hotel over there in Hanoi,” Hemmer said. “They went nuts on Michael Cohen in the evening hours, morning for us.”
He asked Sununu, “And so you’re making the case that that’s the lens by which the North Koreans view American policy?”
“It’s the lens by which virtually everybody outside of the country views American policy,” Sununu said. “And with all due respect to Mr. [Rupert] Murdoch, I really wish he would find a way to balance this thing out, and get you guys on the cable networks out there, on the satellite networks, into the hotels, and into the airports. Otherwise the world has a very distorted perception of what diplomatic and political reality in the U.S. is.”
