Kansas Fills its Budget Shortfall with Sex Toy Auction
The state of Kansas has a $200 million budget shortfall — thanks, according to critics, to Governor Sam Brownback’s tax cuts. So perhaps it’s appropriate that one of the state’s plans to recoup lost revenue is massively embarrassing to the culturally conservative Brownback: a giant sex toy auction.
The stock were seized from an adult retail chain that hadn’t paid its taxes. Among the “unusual” amount of items:
“The online site lists about 400 lots — individual lots contain can dozens of items — that include the Pipedream Fantasy Love Swing, books, hundreds of DVDs, sex and drinking games, a wide assortment of sexually oriented equipment, the carrying cases for devices, the Glass Pleasure Wand, bundles of lingerie and the Cyberskin Foot Stroker.”
Brownback is in a fierce reelection campaign against a Democratic challenger who last week fielded strip club accusations, a weakness that’s likely been neutralized.
Sure enough, KS Dems pounced: “Brownback is so desperate to fill the massive hole in the state budget caused by his reckless income tax cuts that the state of Kansas is now in the porn business,” said the Democrats’ Senate leader.
