Kansas Gov: ‘If You’re Prepared For Zombies, You’re Prepared For Anything’
Kansas Gov. Sam Brownback will officially declare October “Zombie Preparedness Month” at an official ceremony on Wednesday.
According to the Kansas City Star, Brownback’s official proclamation will ring true for all of Kansas, and will assure its residents (and the outside world) that, whenever AMC’s The Walking Dead comes true, they’ll be ready.
“If you’re prepared for zombies, you’re prepared for anything,” said the governor in an official statement. “Although an actual zombie apocalypse will never happen, the preparation for such an event is the same as for any disaster: make a disaster kit, have a plan and practice it.”
In addition to Brownback and his staff, the Kansas Division of Emergency Management will be on hand Wednesday for the signing ceremony. Throughout the month of October, officials with the department will use social media to advertise the state’s emergency preparedness resources and information via information about a faux-zombie apocalypse.
This isn’t the first time that Brownback has, as an elected official, participated in “Zombie Preparedness Month.” He signed a similar declaration September of last year.
Not that Brownback’s latest publicity stunt is all that surprising. After all, this is the same guy who had to auction off sex toys in order to help balance the state’s budget shortfall (following his mandated tax cuts). The man knows his pop culture.
