Kimmel’s Guillermo Crashes Super Bowl Media Night and Calls Out Michael Irvin as ‘Fake News’

It is one of the biggest weeks of the year for sports fans, as we count down the final days until Super Bowl LI between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons.

Guillermo Rodriguez of Jimmy Kimmel Live flew to Houston and did a bit of hard reporting this week during the Super Bowl Media Night, covering all of the big names set to square off this weekend in the big game. The Kimmel sidekick roped interviews with some of the best well-known stars of the gridiron, including quarterbacks Matt Ryan and Tom Brady himself (who Guillermo quickly learned smells like flowers and money).

At one point of the bit, Guillermo even manages to do the impossible: get Patriots head coach Bill Belichick to smile. The legendary coach is going for his seventh championship as a coach, including his fifth as a head coach for the Brady-led Pats, and famously eschews all things fun or distracting to his ultimate goal of total global victory.

But while managing a few interview questions with New England’s Julian Edelman, NFL Network host and Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin interrupted to force his way into Edelman’s line of sight. Guillermo let his thoughts be known. “Hey, that guy is fake news man!” he offered Edelman. “That guy is fake news! Don’t talk to him!”
