Remember when Laura Ingraham called Hugh Hewitt “one of the most overrated” radio hosts ever? Well, those who live in glass audio booths shouldn’t throw stones.
This morning, Ingraham ran into some technical difficulties on her show and when she thought her mic had been included on the list of things that weren’t working right, she tore into EP Drew Carmichael with some choice words.
The problem was, of course, that the mic was not included on that list; it was functioning just fine and caught her tirade, which included this:
What’s going — What do I do guys? I can’t hear anything! What do I do? Drew can you hear something in yours? No, right? Are you on “Best of?” Are you on “Best of?” We have dead air? We gotta put a “Best of” on, Drew. We’re gonna lose every fucking station we have! This is unbelievable. I don’t know what to do. What do I do? Just read stories? What? Everything’s dead in here; I heard a click!
Incredibly, Carmichael or someone else in the mixing booth tried to throw on “Proud Mary,” which Ingraham just yelled over. Then, she moved on, talking about trade and China like nothing happened.
Her blasé attitude could be attributed to how frequently this sort of meltdown occurs. Mediaite spoke to someone with knowledge of the work atmosphere when she broadcasted under the Talk Radio Network umbrella. They said, “Meltdowns are basically a daily occurrence over there. She goes through producers faster than anyone in the industry. I’m just surprised its taken this long to happen on air.”
Then again, this is the Laura Ingraham of “Don’t Come In My Ear” infamy. As a Friday afternoon send-off, we present the above audio from today and the following video from a few years back:
