Earlier today, the Boy Scouts of America announced that soon girls would be allowed to become Cub Scouts and can earn the rank of Eagle Scout. In making the announcement, chief executive Michael Surbaugh said that the Scouts believe “it is critical to evolve how our programs meet the needs of families interested in positive and lifelong experiences for their children.”
If you thought this was going to lead to some good old moral outrage from conservatives during Fox News segments, you’d be right. Appearing on The Story with Martha MacCallum, soon-to-be Fox News host Laura Ingraham lamented the “political correctness” behind the decision, claiming it was another reason “why Trump won” and saying “people are tired of it.”
“Boys should be able to have a boys’ club,” Ingraham told MacCallum. “Girls should be able to have a girls’ club.”
The conservative commentator blamed the move on a small radical group of “gender benders,” leading MacCallum to observe that this seemed to be part of a “de-genderfication” of the country.
