Lawyer for Ex-Fox News Reporter Calls Ken LaCorte a ‘Liar,’ Says Someone Above Him Killed Stormy Piece

The lawyer representing former Fox News reporter Diana Falzone claims that former Fox News editor Ken LaCorte is not telling the truth about spiking Falzone’s story about the alleged affair between President Donald Trump and Stormy Daniels.

Appearing on MSNBC, Falzone attorney Nancy Erika Smith claims that LaCorte himself did not kill the story — as he stated in a column published by Mediaite.

“We think that we will be able to show that Ken LaCorte is a liar,” Smith said. She added, “For one thing, he didn’t stop the story. And that’s going to be evident.”

Host Ari Melber asked Smith if she was claiming that LaCorte wasn’t even the one who oversaw Falzone’s story.

“Yes,” Smith said.

Melber asked if it was someone more senior than LaCorte.

“Yes,” Smith said.

LaCorte, in his column published by Mediaite, claimed that he personally spiked Falzone’s story because it was journalistically unsound. This was in response to Jane Mayer’s New Yorker report which strongly suggested a symbiotic relationship between Fox News and the Trump White House. At the heart of that assertion is Mayer’s report that LaCorte told Falzone he was spiking the story because Rupert Murdoch wanted Trump to win. LaCorte has repeatedly denied that he ever said that to Falzone.

“It wasn’t a detailed investigative piece as the media has portrayed…but a 9-paragraph story that sorely needed backup,” LaCorte wrote. He also published the spiked piece itself on Thursday.
