At today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was pressed on President Donald Trump stating that he was going to provide evidence to support his unproven claim that former President Barack Obama had wiretapped Trump Tower before the election.
Referencing Trump’s remarks during last week’s interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, The Daily Caller‘s Kaitlan Collins asked Spicer about the promise from Trump that proof would be provided within two weeks.
“The administration and the president had repeatedly said that over the next few weeks they will present evidence that he was wiretapped,” she noted. “And last week he said it would be coming this week and he may speak on it this week.”
Collins continued, “Can we expect the president to this week bring evidence that he was wiretapped by Barack Obama? Or will he speak about it because he didn’t mention it last night at his rally?”
The press sec was very short and elusive with his response.
“Well, let’s see how the week goes,” he responded, moving on to the next question.
During yesterday’s House hearing on Russian election interference, FBI Director James Comey confirmed that they’ve seen no evidence that Obama ordered any wiretap on Trump Tower.
