As far as Rush Limbaugh is concerned, the so-called Senate “nuclear option” is just a distraction from Obamacare, but it’s far more insidious than that, as he argued, because the Democrats are so “hell-bent” on winning in 2014 by any means necessary in order to fulfill their ideal of a “total, authoritarian, non-challengeable control over the U.S. government.”
He called out the Democrats for gross hypocrisy on the filibuster and talking of protecting the minority when it was them in the minority years ago, but now that the Republicans are in the minority, “they’re not due any respect, constitutional or otherwise.”
And what’s the endgame here?
The Democrats have made it plain they’re not interested in democracy. That really is what this means. They’re not interested in democracy at all. They want total statist authoritarianism, and frankly, I’m being kind with that terminology.
But what also floored Limbaugh was how every time the White House and Congressional Democrats make another power grab, it somehow takes the Republicans by surprise, as if they had no idea the Democrats would be this opportunistic to score political points at very turn after all this time.
