Limbaugh: Why Has Fox News Embraced Liberal Media Belief That GOP’s Afraid of Me?

On Monday night’s O’Reilly Factor, Brit Hume said that conservative radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh are pushing Republicans to embrace “suicide missions” like the current fight to defund Obamacare, and Republicans listen because they don’t want the conservative media backlash. Limbaugh responded on his radio show Wednesday, sighing at Fox News embracing the liberal media’s belief that Republicans are afraid of people like him.

Limbaugh prefaced this by saying Fox News has been “entirely, totally, thoroughly, excitedly, eagerly supported on this program,” and so he was somewhat surprised at Hume saying that many Republicans would be “hesitant” to oppose a government shutdown because “you don’t want the conservative radio talk show host on your back.”

Limbaugh said he’s used to hearing that on POLITICO, on MSNBC, and from GOP consultants (“the architects of losing elections”), but Fox News legitimizing it is something new altogether.

“Fox News has now fallen in with this idea that Republican elected officials are afraid of this show. Note that they are apparently not afraid of Fox News. Whatever that means.”

During an interview on CNN in last month, President Obama said Republicans are “too worried” about Limbaugh to do their jobs, and Limbaugh relentlessly mocked him for it.
