Lindsey Graham Accuses Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of Comparing Migrant Caravan to the Holocaust
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) scolded Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for what he said was comparing the migrant caravan to the Holocaust in a tweet on Monday.
In a Sunday evening tweet, the soon-to-be-congresswoman wrote the following:
“Asking to be considered a refugee & applying for status isn’t a crime. It wasn’t for Jewish families fleeing Germany. It wasn’t for targeted families fleeing Rwanda. It wasn’t for communities fleeing war-torn Syria. And it isn’t for those fleeing violence in Central America.”
Asking to be considered a refugee & applying for status isn’t a crime.
It wasn’t for Jewish families fleeing Germany.
It wasn’t for targeted families fleeing Rwanda.
It wasn’t for communities fleeing war-torn Syria.
And it isn’t for those fleeing violence in Central America. https://t.co/qhv7Rr1itn— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Ocasio2018) November 25, 2018
Ocasio-Cortez’s tweet drew the ire of the South Carolina Senator.
“I recommend she take a tour of the Holocaust Museum in DC,” Graham wrote on Monday. “Might help her better understand the differences between the Holocaust and the caravan in Tijuana.”

Ocasio-Cortez and Graham have both left little room for interpretations about their positions on this topic. Each has been active on Twitter over the past 24 hours articulating their views.
America’s immigrant and refugee communities prove over and over again that the impossible can be made possible.
They are an enormous share of small business owners, Nobel Prize winners, artists, + more. Many came w/ hardship.
When America denies immigrants, we deny ourselves. https://t.co/mJWRObz1IB

I support President Trump’s decision to close the border until we can get a handle on the chaos created by the broken laws governing asylum.
We must have money for border security/wall and must change asylum laws.
