Lisa Bloom Says Kathy Griffin’s ISIS-Style Photo Was a ‘Parody of Trump’s Own Sexist Remarks’
During their joint press conference, Attorney Lisa Bloom defended Kathy Griffin‘s controversial photoshoot while decrying the “authoritarian” backlash from President Trump and his irate supporters.
Griffin had faced a firestorm of criticism ever since photos emerged of her as she held the president’s bloody, severed head. After invoking Trump’s words on Access Hollywood and his Megyn Kelly “blood” remarks, Bloom declared on Friday that Griffin’s photoshoot was supposed to be “a parody of Trump’s own sexist remarks taken to an extreme, absurdist visual.”
Bloom also insisted that Griffin’s actions were not done to promote violence, and she noted that the comedienne apologized shortly after the controversy took off. Bloom went on to blast Trump and his family for repeatedly slamming Griffin and anyone who defended her, even after the apology.
“The message was clear: criticize the president, lose your job,” Bloom surmised. She continued to defend Griffin’s right to make “provocative art,” and also to blast the president for using his power and influence to “bully” Griffin and “ruin” her career.
