A Connecticut man was arrested at a hotel for what police are describing as “aggressive mopping.” And in case you’re wondering if that’s a metaphor, no, he was literally arrested for harassing someone with a mop; a mop he was using rather aggressively.
John Thornton was at the Double Tree Hotel when he proceeded to grab a mob from a young female employee and started to… mop. He got really angry and started mopping the floor.
Then he got angrier and mopped the woman’s shoes several times. He forced her into a corner of the room as he kept mopping, and she broke down crying. When the police showed up, Thornton made threats and shouted expletives.
He was charged with breach of peace, second-degree threatening, and whatever the legal term for “aggressive mopping” is.
