The FBI announced today that an Omaha man has been arrested for making threats against Senator Joni Ernst.
FBI Omaha announced the arrest on Twitter earlier:

The Associated Press reports that Robert William Simet allegedly held a belief “that she was a member of the Islamic State” and also made this threat:
Simet said he knew Ernst was scheduled to speak Saturday at an event at the motorcycle business. Simet is accused of telling an employee he “could kill” Ernst at the event, and told another employee that “everyone in the government needs to be killed off.”
Threats against lawmakers have unfortunately been of greater concern recently following the shooting at the Republican baseball team practice.
The Twitter account for one of Ernst’s colleagues, Orrin Hatch, posted this in response:
Mr. Simet is lucky the FBI intervened. He clearly has not seen what the Junior Senator from Iowa can do to a pig. https://t.co/DiToWPb3ix
