A South Carolina man used a sledgehammer to decapitate the head of Jesus off a statue outside a local church. But lest you think he harbors any hatred of religion, Charles Short wants you to know he did this because it’s in the Bible.
See, one of the Ten Commandments reads “thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image,” which Short took to mean that you’re not supposed to “make an image of a male or female to be on display to the public.”
And by the way, Short didn’t bother trying to hide the fact he sledgehammered the face of Jesus, he confessed to it. He was arrested and authorities are looking into whether he did this with another church statue mere days earlier.
