Martha MacCallum Grills Sean Spicer on White House’s Inability to Stop Leaks: ‘What is the Problem?!’
One night after Martha MacCallum had presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway on her program denouncing White House leakers, the Fox News host grilled a former West Wing staffer as to why the leaks are happening.
MacCallum, Tuesday night, spoke with former Press Secretary Sean Spicer — and expressed her befuddlement as to why the leaks in President Donald Trump‘s White House haven’t been contained.
“This is like a year and a half,” MacCallum said. “I mean, we’ve been through all these cycles of people in the communications department, and then [Chief of Staff] John Kelly was brought in. This was going to stop the leaks. Anthony Scaramucci said he was going to stop the leaks. I mean, what is the problem?! How tough is it to run a tighter operation?”
Spicer went on to blame…apps?
“People have very ingenious ways these days with encrypted apps, et cetera, to go after each other,” Spicer said. “But I think part of the problem is that you’ve got a media that’s willing to take any story that comes from anybody that wants to — as Kellyanne put it — shiv one of their fellow employees. So that there’s a willing audience to get retribution or undermine someone else’s agenda, and score petty political points if they don’t want to undermine someone else on the team. I think that’s sad, that’s wrong.”
