Matt Drudge Not on the Jeb Bush 2016 Train
The 2016 buzz over the last week extended to Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) after it was reported he met with donors about a possible presidential run and then his son said it was “more than likely” to happen. Matt Drudge of the influential, right-leaning Drudge Report isn’t thrilled about it.
Though on Monday, the two top stories linked on the Drudge Report were related to Bush’s 2016 considerations, Drudge tweeted a disenchanted missive about the prospect.
“You want a Clinton? We will give you a Bush…” Drudge wrote.
The message alluded to a matchup in 2016 between Bush and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is also considering a run for president.
Should Bush run, he would be the third in his family to have sought the presidency within the last 30 years. For Clinton, she will be following in the footsteps of her husband, who served two terms int he Oval Office in the 1990s.
Replies to Drudge’s tweet seemed to share his sentiment. “God no,” wrote one follower. “How about neither?” another said. “I’m sick of the Clintons and Bushes” said a third.
