Mark your calendars early, people. NBC announced on Thursday that Matt Lauer will moderate the first joint event with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
The presidential debates will not start until September 26, but according to the network, Lauer will host both candidates at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City on September 7. This event will be a one-hour “Commander-in-Chief Forum,” where Clinton and Trump will outline their approaches to national security and veterans issues, all while taking questions from an audience of veterans and active service members of the military. The two candidates will not appear on stage together, but will be taking turns back-to-back.
The event will be hosted by the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America. It is worth noting that Lauer was once a member of the Clinton Global Initiative.
