The liberal media watchdog group Media Matters has officially declared victory in its war against Fox News. Yes, according to The Huffington Post, Media Matters is expanding its reach to go after more outlets because, as far as they’re concerned, they’ve done what they set out to accomplish with Fox.
Which is… what exactly?
[T]he group believes it has effectively discredited the network’s desire to be seen as “fair and balanced.”
“The war on Fox is over,” said Media Matters Executive Vice President Angelo Carusone. “And it’s not just that it’s over, but it was very successful. To a large extent, we won.”
The new Media Matters strategic plan details the goal of targeting all-new outlets, mainly with the understanding that the conservative media sphere is ever-expanding online with sites like Twitchy and HotAir and RedState and Glenn Beck‘s The Blaze.
They’ll still be talking about Fox, but group president Bradley Beychok says that while “Fox News isn’t going to stop lying,” their success in discrediting the network as they view it means that they can continue their mission “in different ways consistent with a new strategic vision responsive to the transforming media environment.”
The group has been funded in part by billionaire George Soros, who only did so in the first place after Fox News kept insisting that he was funding them all along, and so donated a million dollars to the group in 2010.
