Meghan McCain: Anyone Who Thinks Trump Can’t Be Elected Is a ‘Special Level of Delusional’

McCainOn Outnumbered Thursday afternoon, co-host Meghan McCain averred that anyone who thinks Donald Trump can’t be elected president is a “special kind of delusional.”

Following the news from the AP Thursday morning that Trump’s nomination is assured, McCain said the real issue was whether or not Trump would succeed in uniting the party and tempering some of his more explosive habits in order to win the support of groups beyond his base.

“He is now the nominee. He needs to be a leader,” she said. “He already has his demographic. He needs women and he needs Hispanic people.”

McCain’s comments came on the heels of a discussion about Trump’s remarks in Albuquerque, blasting New Mexico’s Republican governor Susana Martinez apparently because she had not thrown her support behind him yet.

“Why alienate somebody you need?” she asked.
