Just nine days after Jedidiah Bila‘s sudden departure from The View, ABC has moved quickly to fill the open conservative seat on the panel.
Variety reports that former Fox News personality Meghan McCain has been tapped to replace Bila and join the cast of The View starting in early October.
McCain, until recently, served as a regular panelist on Outnumbered. Following the news that her father — Sen. John McCain — was diagnosed with brain cancer, McCain took five weeks off from the show. She then announced her departure from Outnumbered and Fox News in a statement.
“I’m so thankful to Fox News for the chance to be on ‘Outnumbered,’ but I’m leaving to focus on other things,” McCain said.
Those other things, apparently, include a daily role on one of the premiere daytime talk shows in all of television.
At the time of her departure, Fox News was gracious — saying in a statement “We’re sad to see her go, but we wish her all the best.” But we question whether the network feels the same way now — watching McCain bolt for the high-profile ABC talk show as her star was on the rise. The network granted McCain an extended leave to be with her family, and they can’t have imagined she’d leave so soon afterwards.
