Members of Congress Charging $2,500 to Sit with Them at Taylor Swift Concert

Attending a Taylor Swift concert may be pricey enough for the average American, but attending a TSwift concert with a member of Congress? Kind of a big price increase there.

The Washington Post obtained fundraising invitations from four members of Congress planning to attend Swift’s upcoming Nationals Stadium concert in July.

Republican Steve Stivers will let you come to the concert with him for $1500, while Democrats Gwen Moore, Lois Frankel, and Cheri Bustos will let you come with them for $2500.

The website where you can buy tickets puts the priciest of the “VIP” deals at $479.00. And this isn’t even the first time lawmakers have used Swift’s star power for fundraising purposes.

I guess you could say they want you to have lots of money on you so they can… shake it off. (My apologies for the poor quality of that joke.)
