Mike Pompeo Blasts ‘Sad’ NYT Op Ed from ‘Disgruntled, Deceptive Bad Actor’ Trying to Undermine Trump
— NBC News (@NBCNews) September 6, 2018
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is slamming The New York Times while at the same time denying that he wrote the anonymous op-ed about a senior Trump staffer’s “resistance” from inside the White House.
During a press event in Dehli, Pompeo attacked the Times as a “liberal newspaper” who used the words of a “disgruntled, deceptive bad actor” to attack the administration. He called it part of the media’s “incredibly disturbing” effort to undermine Donald Trump‘s presidency.
“It’s sad more than anything else that out nation’s come to where we have,” Pompeo said. “I come from a place where if you’re not in a position to execute the commander’s intent, you have a singular option, it is to leave.”
The op-ed caused a ton of commotion due to the claims that there’s a “resistance” within the Trump Administration working to prevent his “amorality” and reckless decision-making from bringing the country to disaster. This op-ed corroborates Bob Woodward‘s new book full of revelations about high-level Trump staffers who reportly disparage the president’s intelligence while stopping him from making serious mistakes.
